Medical Director for the Audrey Hepburn (CARE) Center at Children’s Hospital New Orleans

Seeking a full-time child abuse pediatrician to be the medical director/fellowship director of an established child abuse program, the Audrey Hepburn CARE Center at Children’s Hospital of New Orleans.
The Audrey Hepburn CARE Center is a comprehensive child abuse center which has been providing excellence in pediatric forensic medicine for more than a decade.  More than 1000 children have been served annually from across Louisiana and the Gulf Coast.   The center actively teaches forensic medicine with a mandatory LSUHSC pediatric resident rotation and fellowship program, which offers a 2/3 year fellowship with 4 completions since 2002.

The center is fully funded and support staff includes an attorney, case manager, 2 nurses, 3 secretaries, and onsite Advocacy Center support including a coordinator, system coordinator, and multiple trained bilingual forensic interviewers and clinical social workers.

Opportunities for academic success and research projects both on-going and projected.  Detailed forensic statistical data is maintained for all patients.

Established multi-disciplinary team investigations in Orleans and parishes across the state of Louisiana provide opportunities for bi-weekly participation and educational opportunities.

The program co-located  in April of 2009 with the New Orleans Children’s Advocacy Center in a beautiful child friendly cottage alongside Audubon park just blocks from the main campus of Children’s Hospital.
