The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine

The Division of Child Advocacy in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is seeking a third full-time pediatrician.  This physician will join two other board-certified Child Abuse pediatricians working in a well-developed varied program which includes a busy inpatient consultation service, a supervisory role in a Child Advocacy Center, teaching and research activities, and multiple community services.

This full time position offers excellent opportunities for a pediatrician interested in the medical assessment and care for children with concerns of maltreatment, but also interested in providing primary care for children in out-of-home placements and in participating in resident teaching and community health initiatives.    The ideal candidate should possess experience and outstanding clinical skills in caring for children.   Board certification or board-eligibility in Child Abuse Pediatrics is desirable but not essential.

Our program is based at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, which is consistently ranked as one of the top pediatric facilities in the county and is in the top ten for NIH research funding.  The Hospital moved to a new facility in May of 2009, a beautiful 296-bed facility with includes 79 ICU beds and 41 Emergency Center beds.  The Department of Pediatrics has 221 faculty members.  Clinical care includes 7700 inpatients annually, and more than 500,000 outpatient visits in the hospital and linked community clinics.

Our location in western Pennsylvania offers amenities which are convenient, affordable, and accessible.   Particularly notable are the cultural arts and the outdoor recreational nature settings.  Nestled among rolling hills along the Allegheny, Ohio and Monongahela Rivers, Pittsburgh is the heart of a dynamic region where more than one million people live and work. Pittsburgh is on the forefront of biomedical research, computing technology, finance and business and is a hub of historical, cultural, recreational and professional sports activities.
