The University of Louisville Department of Pediatrics, Division of Forensic Medicine

The University of Louisville Department of Pediatrics, Division of Forensic Medicine is seeking a full-time (1.0FTE) BC/BE Child Abuse Pediatrician to join the academic faculty in the child abuse assessment program.  The program has grown rapidly over its first two years in the Department of Pediatrics and currently staffs 2.0 FTE physicians, four forensic nurses, a social worker, and a program assistant.  The team enjoys an excellent relationship with the School of Medicine, local medical professionals, and community investigators.  Salary is competitive and the cost-of-living in Louisville is relatively low.

The responsibilities are primarily clinical, but a large variety of opportunities are available for teaching, research, and program development.  Our new physician will be asked to share call responsibilities with the current physicians and forensic nurses.  The majority of the consults occur at Kosair Children’s Hospital, a free-standing, tertiary-care pediatric hospital.  We also perform case reviews throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky and Southern Indiana.  Court testimony is expected when necessary.  Our case volume is currently 600 patients/year (and increasing).  This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing program in a vibrant community.  Please contact Melissa Currie, MD, Director, for further information via This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or (502) 629-3099.
