The Center for Children at Risk of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Department of Pediatrics announces an opening for a BC/BE pediatrician who desires to build an exciting and fulfilling career in child abuse and neglect in a supportive and conducive environment.  This faculty position provides an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic team committed to providing superb child abuse diagnostic and treatment services. 

Center physicians provide inpatient child abuse medical consultations at Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH).  Outpatient evaluations for child sexual and physical abuse are conducted at a facility on the ACH campus.  Center faculty provide statewide teaching in the delivery of medical and mental health services to maltreated children by video conferences and print material.  The candidate will be able to participate in undergraduate and graduate medical education, program development, clinical research, community outreach, legislative advocacy, training and research.  Additional opportunities within the Department of Pediatrics will be tailored to the talents and interests of the successful applicant.

Academic appointment will be as an assistant or associate professor in a tenure track clinical educator position.  The candidate should be board eligible for subspecialty certification in child maltreatment.  Salary is competitive and accompanied by a full benefit package.

The Center for Children at Risk is the only dedicated child abuse diagnostic and treatment resource for the state of Arkansas.  Nineteen Center staff members provide medical and mental health services.  The UAMS Department of Pediatrics employs over 210 faulty members and over 80 residents.  Arkansas Children’s Hospital is among the largest children’s hospitals in the United States and was listed in Fortune magazine as one of the top 100 places to work in the United States in 2008.
