Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center We are seeking a fellowship trained Child Abuse specialist, or a clinician with experience in providing child abuse evaluations to join one of New Jersey’s four Regional Diagnostic and Treatment Centers for the diagnosis and treatment of child abuse as Assistant Medical Director. The METRO Regional Center has a multidisciplinary staff consisting of a Medical Director, an Assistant Medical Director (position open), two part time pediatricians who provide medical assessments in the Center’s foster care program, a Clinical Director, a forensic Program Coordinator, 8 full time and 6 part time mental health clinicians, mental health externs, a foster care program nurse coordinator and a clinical nurse, a child life therapist, and clerical support. The Assistant Medical Director would be responsible for providing medical evaluations for youth with suspected and confirmed child abuse and neglect, provide in-patient consultation for possible abuse cases on the pediatric in-patient services, participate in the area’s Multidisciplinary Team reviews and the Regional Child Fatality Team. The opportunity exists to serve on a number of different state committees relating to child abuse and neglect.
