Child Abuse Pediatrician

The Department of Pediatrics at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL is pleased to announce that they are now seeking a third child abuse pediatrician to join a well established and expanding hospital child abuse team.  The full-time position includes an academic appointment at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine at a level dependent on qualifications and experience.  The position offers a competitive salary and benefits package. 

The successful candidate would possess outstanding clinical and teaching skills, in addition to an interest in child abuse research and child advocacy.  Candidates for the position should be board eligible for subspecialty certification in child abuse pediatrics.

The Protective Service Team includes two full-time child abuse pediatricians, a child abuse pediatrics fellow, a program coordinator, and a group of excellent social workers who provide on-site consultation 24/7.  The team evaluates approximately 1,000 children per year.  In addition, the team physicians participate in a unique collaborative partnership with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and the Chicago Police Department to provide comprehensive clinical assessment, treatment and follow-up care for children reported to DCFS. 

Children's Memorial Hospital is a free-standing children’s hospital located in a beautiful neighborhood on the near-north side of Chicago near Lincoln Park and Lake Michigan. It has more than 1,100 pediatric specialists focusing on 70 specialties in multiple locations and routinely provides more care to more young people than any other Chicago-area hospital or medical center.  The patient population represents a broad spectrum of socioeconomic status, ethnic background, and geographic distribution that ranges from the immediate Chicago area as well as a referral population throughout Illinois and several surrounding states.  In 2012, Children's Memorial will move into a new state-of-the-art facility adjacent to the Northwestern Medical School.
