1-2 year post-residency Child Abuse and Neglect Fellowship available for board certified or eligible pediatricians. CO medical license required. Busy clinical service with 1200 patients a year (approximately 55% sexual abuse and 45% physical abuse and neglect, inpatient and outpatient). Weekly child protection team. clinic sees primarily sexual abuse consultations for colposcopy and interviews. Team psychologist has local and national reputation for treating severely traumatized children, in particular, those who have witness violence or murder. Major referral center for consultation through Kempe Children's center for Wyoming, Idaho, Nebraska, Kansas. The Children's Hospital is the state's only Level I pediatric trauma center with a busy emergency department seeing 30,000 - 40,000 visits a year. Civil and criminal court involvement in many cases. School of Medicine offers courses in biostatistics. First year primarily clinical and second year can be designed around research with total time approximately 60% clinical, 30% research, and 10% time involvement in outside activity such as court. Funding primarily through private and foundation grants and departmental clinical earnings. 1 or 2 positions yearly depending upon funding availability. Past graduates now lead multidisciplinary teams, or hold academic positions in child abuse/pediatrics.
